Barrie had wide ranging interests and published several books. They included reference books on uranium or 'Vaseline' glass, and two novels about a nuclear power station, set in the Suffolk countryside. Also an e-book on management theory.

It is the story of his working life in the nuclear industry,from graduation, to his early work at Dounreay in Scotland, to Sizewell 'A' and 'B' in Suffolk, where he spent most of his life. He was proud of both his written work and his life in the nuclear industry.
